The number of confirmed cases climbed to 424 with reports of 94 new cases during the period, Prof Meerjady Sebrina Flora informed a regular bulletin of the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) on Friday.
Health Department’s Additional Director General Prof Sania Tahmina also joined the online bulletin.
The bulletin was informed that five of the dead were males and one female while among the new cases, 69 males and 25 females.
Among the new cases, 37 were reported in Dhaka, 16 in Narayanganj and the rest are from different districts.
No report of recovery was received in last 24 hours. So far, 33 patients have recovered.
Dr Sania Tahmina informed that some 470 organisations across the country have been prepared to provide quarantine service to 24,492 persons.
So far, 71,244 persons went for home quarantine. Of them, 660 were released in last 24 hours, she said adding that at present, 11,809 are in home quarantine and 792 in institutional quarantine.
“Our physicians are very much worried about N-95 mask. There is no problems with other requirement. We’ve collected 92,000 testing kits 71,000 are in stock,” she said.
“We’re trying to increase out isolation capacity.At present, some 7,693 isolation beds are kept ready across the country while 1,550 in Dhaka city,” said Dr Sania Tahmina.
She also informed that isolation hospitals will be set up at Bashundhara International Convention Centre, a DNCC market and at four multi-storied buildings in Diabari.
Meanwhile, the global death toll from coronavirus has reached 95,722 till Friday morning.
