A high-powered team of entomologists left Dhaka for Teknaf this morning to investigate the matter. Separate teams from Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI) and Bangladesh Institute of Nuclear Agriculture (BINA) also left for the scene.
The release said, Cox’s Bazar Department of Agricultural Extension’s deputy director and local officials of the agriculture office visited Lombori village in Teknaf some days ago following attacks by grasshopper-like small insects in some trees and those have already been controlled spraying pesticides.
It said that the teams would work for identifying the insects, and controlling and destroying them. Quoting the DAE Cox’s Bazar deputy director, the release also said that the insects died after using insecticides and there is no insect alive now.
