Youth held for derogatory remarks on PM, Bangabandhu

Online Desk : Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a young man in Atwari upazila of Panchagarh district on Thursday night for making derogatory remarks against the Prime Minister, Bangabandhu and other important personalities on social media.

Arrested Md Faridul Islam, 28, is a resident of Jadabbati village in the upazila.A team of RAB-13 conducted a drive in the area at night and detained him, said the RAB official ASP ANM Imran Khan. During initial interrogation, he confessed to making derogatory remarks about PM Sheikh Hasina, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and others on social media, said ASP Imran said.

After filing of a case against him under the Digital Security Act, he was handed over to Atwari Police Station, the RAB official added.

Confirming the matter, the police station officer in-charge Md Izar Uddin said the accused were sent to jail on Friday following a court order.
