Online Desk : The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has been put under lockdown after 22 members of Armed Police battalion (APBn), deployed to ensure the tribunal’s security, got infected with coronavirus.
The ICT Prosecutor Ziad Al Malum on Tuesday confirmed media about the matter.
“At least 22 APBn members in two tribunal barracks tested positive for the virus. Earlier, a few number have been taken outside for treatment. But, 17 more are still inside the tribunal. So, the entire ICT was put under lockdown,” he said.
ICT Prosecutor also informed that the administrative activities are being done through videoconferencing.
The first APBn member was infected with coronavirus on April 24.
Talking to the Observer Online, Ziad Al Malum said that the Home Ministry has been requested to take steps in protecting the entire ICT building including all documents and records.
“They (the ministry) have already assigned Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) to cordon off the tribunal area for ensuring its security,” he said.
The next course of action will be undertaken in a joint meeting of the ICT registrar, prosecution and the home ministry, added the ICT Prosecutor.
