Online Desk ; A woman lodged a general diary with Sonatola Poice Station in Bogura district mentioning that his husband went missing near one year ago. It was only a story to cover up the real incident of killing a man by his wife for her extramarital affairs. The incident took place at Ranipara village under Sonatala upazila.
Police recovered the body of murdered Rafiqul Islam, 47, which was buried beside a rail track at Sonatala on Friday noon and detained four people in this connection. All of them confessed their involvement in the killing to police during primary interrogation.
The detained are deceased’s wife Rehana Begum, 35, son Jasim Mia, 16, cousin Shakil Mia, 25, and wife’s lover Mohidul Islam, 42. On Thursday night, police detained Shakil and three others obtaining information from him.
On July 1 in 2019, Rehana lodged a general diary with the police station and wrote in the GD that her husband went missing from the house on June 15. Additional superintendent of police (Sonatala Circle) Qudrat-e-Khuda said Rehana with her lover Mohidul hatched a plan to murder her husband, and also provoke her son Jasim to get engaged in it. On the day of the murder, Mohidul and Jasim fed Rafiqul supper mixing sleeping pills with it.
Later, Shakil, Mohidul and Jasim strangulated Rafiqul to death. They then covered the body with a sack and buried it near by the rail line. Police exhumed the body at noon with presence of superintendent of district police Ali Ashraf Bhuyian.
