Online desk : Police in separate drives detained five people for trading drugs and gambling at Raninagar upazila of Naogaon district on Tuesday night.
Detained persons are Abbas Ali, 38, Nabi Ahmed, 30. Tareq Rahman, 25, Mizanur Rahman, 38, and Sabuj Hossain, 33.
On information, a police team raided in front of Kujail Girls School and nabbed Abbas, Nabi and Tareq. Police also recovered 800 pieces Yaba tablets from their possessions and seized two motorcycles.
Meanwhile, the law enforcers conducted another drive in Laxmipur village and detained Mizanur and Sabuj while gambling.
Confirming the matter, Raninagar Police Station officer in-charge Md Jahirul Haque said separate cases were filed against them under the Narcotics Control and Public Gambling acts.
However, they were sent to jail on Wednesday morning following a court order.
