Online Desk ; Regent Group chairman Mohammad Shahed alias Shahed Karim, during initial interrogation by the Detective Branch of Police, confessed to fraud.
Additional Commissioner (DB) of the DMP Md. Abdul Baten, came up with the information at a press conference at DB’s Minto Road office on Thursday.
Earlier, Shahed was arrested from bordering Debhata upazila of Satkhira early morning on Wednesday.
A Dhaka court on Thursday placed Regent Group chairman Mohammad Shahed and managing director Masud Parvez on a 10-day remand each in a case filed over issuing fake COVID-19 test results.
On July 6, a mobile court of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) conducted raids at the Uttara and Mirpur branches of the Regent Hospital following allegations of issuing fake COVID-19 certificates and exorbitant charge for COVID-19 test and treatment. Later, the head office of Regent in city’s Uttara area and its hospital were sealed off.
