Online Desk : Some 300 cartons of foreign cigarettes were seized by the Dhaka Customs House authorities at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Wednesday.
The cigarettes were seized after those were found abandoned at No. 5 belt area in the afternoon.
Dhaka Customs House assistant commissioner Solaiman Hossain said being tipped off, the members of the preventive team of Dhaka Customs House started vigilance staying at different points of the airport. At one stage of the vigilance and search, they noticed 300 cartons of foreign cigarettes lying on the conveyer belt.
“The cigarettes were of Easy Gold brand. The market price of the cigarettes will be Tk 9 lakh. Legal measures have been taken according to the customs rules,” he said.
