4 remanded for vandalising Bangabandhu’s sculpture in Kushtia

Online Desk : Kushtia Senior Judicial Magistrate Enamul Haque on Tuesday granted nine days remand respectively for four arrested madrasa students and teachers over damaging an under-construction sculpture of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Rahman in Kushtia.

Earlier this morning, the district police produced the four before the court from jail amid tight security seeking 10-day remand for the students and seven-day remand for the teachers.

The court placed arrested students Mithun, 19, and Md Sabuj Islam alias Nahid, 20, on a five-day remand while teachers Md Al Amin, 27, and Md Yusuf Ali, 26, on a four-day remand.

Miscreants vandalised the face and some portion of the right hand of the sculpture of the Bangabandhu set up at Panch Rasta intersection at night on December 4.

Police, however, arrested the four people after scrutinising a CCTV footage which was collected from the scene.
