Online Desk ; The High Court has imposed a ban on broadcasting interviews and speeches of all fugitives, including Prashanta Kumar Halder alias PK Halder.
The HC bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Ahmed Sohel passed the order on Wednesday after hearing of an appeal petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) seeking appropriate directives to stop broadcasting the interviews and speeches.
Senior lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan stood on behalf of the ACC while deputy attorney general AKM Amin Uddin Manik represented the state.
Earlier this morning, the anti-graft body filed the petition where it made a request to the Information Ministry and the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) for such instructions.
In the appeal petition, the ACC also requested to summon video clip of the interview and a talk show of PK Halder which was broadcast by a private TV channel on Monday.
On Tuesday, the ACC’s lawyer brought the matter to the notice of the HC.
The anti-graft body on January 8 filed a case against Halder for amassing illegal wealth of around Taka 274 crore. He is accused of embezzling Tk 1,500 crore from the International Leasing and Financial Services Ltd. PK Halder has allegedly embezzled Taka 3,500 crore from different financial agencies.
