Online Desk : Police have arrested the prime accused in a case filed over stealing of 49 computers from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University (BSMRSTU) in Gopalganj district.
Polash Sharif was arrested from Tekerhat area at Rajoir upazila in Madaripur district on Sunday afternoon. He is a resident of Gopinathpur village at Sadar upazila in the district.
He is the expelled president of Gopinathpur Union unit Jubo League. Polash also is an accused in two cases including of abduction filed with Gopalganj and Madaripur Police Stations.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar circle) Mohammad Sanwar Hossain confirmed the matter in press conference around 10:30 am on Sunday.
He said using mobile phone technology, police conducted a drive in the area and arrested him from a passenger bus on Sunday afternoon.
Earlier on July 26 last year, a total of 49 computers were stolen from the BSMRSTU central library by breaking its windows during Eid vacation.
Former Registrar of the university Md Nuruddin Ahmed filed a case with Gopalganj Sadar Police Station on August 10 in this regard.
Later on August 14 in the same year, police recovered stolen 34 computers from Hotel Crystal In at Banani in the capital owned by Polash Sharif on August 13.
So far, a total of nine accused were arrested in this connection.
