During this timeline, 762 fresh cases were reported, taking the total virus cases to 5,26,485.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed the matter through a press release signed by Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General of DGHS, this afternoon.
Health authorities also reported 718 more recoveries over the preceding 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 4,71,123.
In the last 24 hours, 99 coronavirus testing laboratories across the country collected 13,652 samples and tested 13,678.
With this, a total of 34,31,792 samples were tested in the country.
Among the newly deceased, nine were men and the rest four were women. Of them, 12 are from Dhaka, two each from Chattogram and Khulna, and one from Rangpur district.
As of today, a total of 5,963 men (75.85 per cent) and 1,899 women (24.15 per cent) died from COVID-19 in Bangladesh.
The infection rate is 5.57 per cent in the last 24 hours, compared to the samples tested, while the overall infection rate is 15.34 per cent.
So far, the recovery rate is 89.48 per cent and the mortality rate is 1.49 per cent.
Bangladesh reported its first coronavirus case on March 8 and the first death on March 18.
According to Worldometer’s COVID-19 data, the deadly virus has killed 20,04,431 people globally and infected 9,36,11,176 as of Friday afternoon.
