Mazharul Islam Turjoy, 22, was hacked dead in front of Nazirpur Mokter Bari in Ward No. 2 in the municipality when he was returning home after election campaign in favour of ‘boat’, the electoral symbol of AL.
On information, Begumganj Police went to the spot and recovered the body.
The body was sent to Noakhali General Hospital morgue.
Chowmuhani mayor Akhter Hossain Foysal said he had been campaigning with them for last few days.
Superintendent of Noakhali Police Alamgir Hossain said police are investigating the matter.
