“Installation works of Khulna-Mongla broad gauge rail line will be completed within the stipulated time at any cost and necessary manpower will be recruited for this purpose if needed,” he told newsmen.
The minister was talking to the journalists after inspecting the construction project of 64 kilometers (km) long broad gauge line from Khulna to Mongla.
Highlighting some important projects of Bangladesh Railway (BR), he said the rail connectivity between Chattogram to Cox’s Bazar and alongside the Padma Bridge will also be introduced by 2022.
When the Khulna-Mongla port railway line is completed this year, there would be a radical change in the rail communications in the south eastern region of the country , he added.
Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khalek, Secretary to Railways Ministry Md Selim Reza and senior railway officials were present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, a Press Information Department (PID) handout, received here today, said Khulna-Mongla rail connectivity is very important as goods can easily be transported across the country through Mongla port.
The neighboring countries including Nepal, Bhutan and India, will have the opportunity to increase trade facilities with Bangladesh By using the second largest sea port which would boost the country’s economic growth .
