“A certain quarter carried out the campaign with an specific motive. The report was prepared to put the government into an awkward situation undermining the country,” he said.
The minister came up with the remarks after inaugurating the ‘Bangabandhu Corner’ of the River Police at Hatirjheel Police Plaza Concord on Wednesday.
Earlier, the government has rejected the Al Jazeera report terming it “false, defamatory and a politically motivated smear campaign”.
Replying to a question from a journalist about a number of deaths in Dhaka and outside after taking toxic liquor, the minister urged all to refrain from taking toxic liquor.
“Liquor import has been suspended after worldwide coronavirus outbreak that why production of spurious liquor is on the rise.Unscrupulous traders are marketing the spurious liquor. Detectives are working to nab them while some them have already been detained,” informed minister Asaduzzaman.
