Local office of Bangladesh Forest Department said that the Fire Service, Police, Forest Department along with local people brought it under control, said Muhammad Belayet Hossain, divisional forest officer (DFO) of East Sundarbans Division.
Almost 3 kathas of forest land were burnt by the fire.
A three-member committee was formed in this regard to find out the extent of damage caused by fire and it was asked to submit report within seven working days.
According to the forest department, about 80 acres of land was burnt 27 times in fire in the last 15 years.
