Online desk ; Large scale deaths of goat in Moulvibazar’s Kamalganj upazila by a deadly virus are causing concern among the farmers to lose their domestic animal.
Over 500 goats died from PPR virus infection in last seven days till Sunday, said farmers.
They alleged that short supply of the PPR vaccine and lack of visit by upazila livestock officials caused the rise of the virus infection.
Local sources said goats are dying of fever, dycentry, sore mouth and respiratory problem in the upazila for last few weeks.
Contacted, upazila livestock officer M Hidayetullah said he did not heard about deaths of goat from PPR virus infection.
“Field level inspection is being hampered due to manpower shortage. PPR is a deadly virus for goat. Vaccine will be supplied to the infected areas,” he said.
