Online Desk : Police on Wednesday night arrested a woman along with her lover from Barguna district town area, who reportedly strangulated her husband to death over extramarital affairs in 2020.
The arrested are Fatema Mitu, 24, wife of Nasir Uddin Hawlader, of Boroitala village in Sadar upazila; and her lover Raju Miah, 20.
Both of them were arrested following the seizure of a lost mobile phone set owned by lover Raju, according to police.
The accused confessed their involvement in the murder during initial interrogation, said Barguna superintendent of police Mohammad Jahangir Mallik on Thursday.
Abdul Jalil Hawlader, brother of the deceased, said his sister-in-law developed extramarital affairs with Raju two years ago.
“Both of them planned to kill my brother when the matter of extramarital affairs came to his acknowledgement. As part of the plan, they strangulated my brother at night on May 23 in 2020,” he added.
Confessing her involvement in the murder, Mitu said she asked her lover to bring sleeping pills from market in the afternoon on May 23.
“I fed the sleeping to my husband after tricking him before his sleeping. Later, I called Raju at house at 11.00pm and we strangulated him to death,” she added.
Barguna Police Station OC Tariqul Islam said they unveiled the murder incident after seizing the lost mobile phone set of accused Raju from Dolua UP.
“We have arrested Mitu and Raju after analyzing the mobile phone set and their call records,” the OC added.
A case was filed in this connection with police station.
