Online Desk : A court in Dhaka on Sunday placed 29 BNP leaders and activists, arrested from Jatiya Press Club premises on Saturday, on a two-day remand.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sadbir Yasir Ahsan Chowdhury passed the remand order.
Thirteen of the remanded accused belong to case lodged with the city’s Ramna police station, while the rest 16 belong to a case filed with Shahbag police station.
Earlier, Ramna police station’s sub-inspector Shahidul Osman Masum and Shahbag police station sub-inspector Golam Hossain Khan produced the accused before the court pleading to place each of them on a 10-day remand.
Opposing the pleas for remand, the lawyer of the accused Advocate Hossain Ali Khan pleaded for their bail.
Hearing the arguments of both sides, the court placed each of the 29 accused on a two-day remand.
The remanded accused were Sharif Uddin Jewel, Obaidullah Nayeem, Nadim Hossain, Abdur Rashid, Hossain Mia, Al Amin Molla, Milton Sheikh, Sanwar, Jahir, Rubel, Ebadul, Hamidul Islam, Mohsin, Jakir Hossain, Parvez Reza, Khondker Muzahidul Islam, Saugatul Islam, Minhazul Huq Nayan, Shawkat-ul-Islam, Sajib, Shamim Reza, Shaon Jamadder, Imon Sheikh, Nazrul Islam, Sajjad, Rahman Rana, Mahmudul Hasan and Polash Mia.
