Online desk : Baufal upazila administration has imposed section 144 as two groups of AL convened press conferences at the same venue and time in Baufal upazila of Patuakhali.
It was announced through a notification signed by Baufal Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Al Amin on Thursday night.
The restriction will be effective within 500 square yards of upazila AL office from 8 am to 10 pm on Friday.
Earlier, the followers of the upazila unit AL president lawmaker A S M Feroz called a press conference at the office building. After a few hours, the upazila unit AL secretary and upazila chairman Abdul Mottalib Hawladar declared a counter press conference there.
“We have tried our best and talked to both sides.” I have suggested a separate press conference. But the both groups were adamant in their decision. As a result, I had to clamp the emergency section to avert a clash,” Al-Amin said.
Additional number of police were deployed in the area, Baufal Police Station officer in-charge Al Mamun said.
