Awami League (AL) General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said there is nothing for Bangladesh to be worried over the India’s National Register of Citizens (NRC) issue.
“They (India) repeatedly told (us) that nothing has happened to become anxious over NRC the issue and nothing will happen. Indian prime minister himself assured of it. So, we do not want to embarrass (India) by questioning about this again,” he said.
The minister said this in reply to a query from a journalist after a courtesy meeting with Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Riva Ganguly Das at his office in the city.
Quader said, “Our bilateral relationship is (now) at an excellent level. There is no dilemma in Bangladesh-India relation. So, if any problem rises, we could resolve through discussions”.
Speaking about the courtesy meeting, he said discussion was held on some projects, including at those in Mainamati of Cumilla, Sarail of Brahmanbaria and a bridge over Feni River.
She (Riva) requested to gear up the progress of the projects, he added.
