The ruling Awami League (AL) and its associate body today greeted Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina for taking a decision to cut Diammonium Phosphate (DAP) fertilizer price both at retail and wholesale level on Wednesday.
Awami League and Bangladesh Krishak League leaders organized separate meetings in the city and formally congratulated the Prime Minister and Agriculture Minister Dr Mohammad Abdur Razzaque for taking such important decision for the greater interest of farmers and agriculture.
Terming the decision as time befitting one, AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader said, “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken wise and time befitting decision by curtailing DAP fertilizer price as the decision would help curb the production cost of farmers.”
Prime Minister’s initiatives aiming to welfare of farmers are now being recognized throughout the world, said Quader in a statement.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Krishak League also brought out a joyous rally after holding a meeting at its central office at city’s Bangabandhu Avenue here. The Krishak league leaders expressed their gratitude and congratulated the Prime Minister for fertilizer price reduction decision.
Awami League Agriculture and Cooperatives Affairs Secretary Faridunnahar Laily attended the meeting as the chief guest while Bangladesh Krishak League President Samir Chanda chaired it.
Agriculture Minister Dr Mohammad Abdur Razzaque formally disclosed the government decision to cut DAP fertilizer price by Taka 9 to Taka 16, per kg, from Taka 25 for farmers at a press conference at the secretariat on December 5.
